Module 5 - Damage Assessment

In Module 5 - Damage Assessment we are introduced to creating data using the XY Display tool, Points to Line Feature Tool, and exploring marker symbol options.  We are also introduced to creating a damage assessment online survey, preparing data for processing in a geodatabase, and preparing Post-Storm damage assessment using Attribute Domains.

General steps in completion of the damage assessment:

Compilation of necessary layers, parcel, study area, and images of pre and post damaged area are needed.

Completing an attribute domain with the necessary codes and descriptions to classify the damage.

Classifying the point feature to match the severity of damage.

Viewing the study area to determine severity of damage, and using the swipe tool, to go back and forth between the pre and post images to help identify level of damage.

Marking the damaged structures, and recording the results based on classification.

The two (2) images included show the marked structures classified by damage, and distance from the coastline. Based on the damage assessment I conducted of the 89 structures assessed, 14 were destroyed, 9 suffered major damage, 31 suffered minor damage, and 35 suffered affected damage.
