Module 3 - GIS - ArcGIS Collector and Projections

This was a good lab in that it felt like a work assignment! To date, I have spent the most time on this lab, trying to understand all the steps that went correctly, and resolve all the ones that seemed to only work once. ArcGIS Online has functionality that is quite different from ArcGIS Pro, and it is beneficial to know that now. Learning multiple ways to share the work product, such as KML files for Google Earth, is definitely a bonus.

The projections section was a fascinating journey into how much I need to learn about the mechanics of cartography and the history of geospatial data and methods of projections. Understanding scale and creating a professional map took hours to work through.  It was an eye opener to realize that ArcGIS Pro does not have a warning system to keep me from creating a map without a coordinate system! I learn best by doing, and for this portion of the lab, there was a lot to do and absorb. It is appreciated that the course is designed as a foundation for us to build on as we journey towards becoming GIS professionals.
